Scouting burnistes for morels

So if you haven't seen the footage yet, Jill and I had the opportunity to scout a couple of burnsites over the weekend. You can check out the footage on my YouTube Channel. Just follow the link posted on this page.

I took some soil temperature readings and the results indicate that soil is still 1.5-4.5 degrees too cold. Looks like another week, maybe longer, until massive morel fruitings are spotted.

On the plus side, Jill and I missed out on a Spokane Mushroom Club forray to the Dishman Hills area to scout out these burnsites with far more potential. The group at Dishman Hills was 10-12 people. They searched for 3-4 hours and found 10 morels. So they are *just starting* to come up in isolated areas but the further out burnsites are still too early.

It won't be long now.....Stay tuned!!!
